The military officer who assaulted a civilian at the Kurunegala – Yaggapitiya Lanka IOC petrol station has been removed from all his duties with immediate effect.
The Sri Lanka Army stated that this decision has been taken by the Army Commander Lt. Gen. Vikum Liyanage pending the recommendations of the five-member court of inquiry.
Also, an investigation is also being conducted by the Sri Lanka Army Police Force regarding the related incident.
A five-member court of inquiry headed by a brigade commander has been appointed yesterday (04) by the Western Security Force Headquarters to make recommendations regarding the actions of this senior officer.
