SSP Romesh Liyanage of the Police Special Task Force (STF), who was in charge of security at the private house of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, has been detained in connection with the violent attack on a number of journalists on Saturday night (09).
The interdiction was carried out in line with the authority granted to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) under the Establishments Code and subject to the Public Service Commission’s permission, according to a statement from Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa.
The Director of the STF’s Prime Minister’s Security Division was SSP Romesh Liyanage.
