With her recent promotion to the event quota of 32 competitors, Sri Lanka’s record holder in women’s long jump Sarangi Silva has been selected by World Athletics to compete at the World Championships.
She is the first person from Sri Lanka to have ever qualified for a world championships event involving horizontal jumping.
She has rejected to compete in the World Cup in order to focus on the forthcoming Commonwealth Games next month, since she is traveling for Turkey at the end of the week for her last preparation for the CWG with her Personal Coach, who is located in Turkey.
