According to sources, leg-spinner Dushan Hemantha has been called up for the 15-member squad named for the two-Test series against Ireland starting on the 16th.
Dushan Hemantha, who represented Sri Lanka ‘A’ team earlier this year against England Lions, is an all-rounder representing the BRC Sports Club.
A former St. Peter’s College cricketer, Hemantha has taken 98 wickets including three 5-wicket hauls in his first-class career in 44 matches and 64 wickets in 58 games under the ‘A’ category. In addition to Hemantha, Prabhat Jayasuriya, Ramesh Mendis and Lasith Amudeniya have been included in the team as three spinners, and the opportunity for the spinner Praveen Jayawickrama to come to the team is far away.
