The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) has decided to suspend operations beginning Monday due to a lack of diesel for private buses (6).
Chairman of the LPBOA, Gemunu Wijerathne, stated that they had to make a decision as soon as the ordinary level test was completed.
Bus owners, he claimed, have to line for days to fill their vehicles. Although it was announced that fuel will be distributed from Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) facilities, no official programme was in place.
If the government does not prioritise delivering diesel to passenger buses this week, buses will be phased out beginning Monday, according to the chairman.
