The government has appointed the Leader of the House and the Chief Government Whip to represent in Parliament.
Minister Susil Premajayantha has been appointed as the Leader of the House.
Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has been reappointed as the Chief Government Whip.
The appointments come ahead of the Parliament proceedings today which will commence at 10.00 am.
The proclamation of the State of Emergency by the then Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe will be taken up for a debate and a vote during the proceedings.
Meanwhile, United National Party member Vajira Abeywardena was sworn in as a Member of Parliament this morning.
He took an oath before the Speaker and will fill the National List seat that was left vacant by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Vajira Abeywardena has been nominated by the Election Commission for the National List seat of the United National Party
