According to the National Audit Office, the National Audit Office has paid an amount of Rupees Two Ninety-Nine Lakhs Thirty-Seven Thousand Eight Hundred Sixty-Seven (29,937,867) more than the government’s assessed value for a building belonging to a private company where the Land Reform Commission maintains its head office.
A building belonging to a private company located in the Battaramulla area was acquired on a rent basis for a period of one year from 01 December 2016 to 30 November 2017 to run the head office of the Commission. The audit has revealed that 29,937,867 rupees more than the government’s assessed value has been paid by maintaining the head office of the commission without extending the agreement. The audit has recommended that public expenditure should be done efficiently, effectively and frugally. (Divaina)
