The Israeli cabinet approved a four-day ceasefire with Hamas militants agreeing to release 150 of the 240 Israeli hostages. This is the first time that the Israeli government has expressed its willingness to cease attacks on the Gaza Strip and go to a ceasefire.
Hamas militants took Israelis hostage and took them to the Gaza Strip when they stormed Israel on October 7. Since then, Israeli forces have been attacking Gaza by air and ground, to root out Hamas militants and rescue hostages held by Hamas.
Qatar is mediating to stop the war between Hamas and Israel. Qatar has made a new proposal to completely stop the Israeli-Hamas war. The Israeli cabinet met regarding the proposal. Accordingly, a four-day ceasefire was agreed upon. (AFP)
