Kurunegala District Councilor Dayasiri Jayasekara (SLPP) said to President Ranil Wickramasinghe in the Parliament that a new election commission should be appointed or the election should be held.
Dayasiri Jayasekara also mentioned that if only three members of the Election Commission have accepted the date of the election, a new commission will be appointed or the election will be held.
Responding to that, President Ranil Wickramasinghe said that he agrees to the request to appoint a new Election Commission and that he will meet in the next Sumane and do that work.
Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara stood up and said that he would confirm the proposal made by Jayasiri Jayasekara that the Election Commission should be reappointed. (Lankadeepa)
