Tourism and Lands Minister Harin Fernando said that Australia held effective discussions with cricket and rugby officials to promote Sri Lanka as a leading tourist destination for Australian sports fans. Harin Fernando, who is visiting Australia, has discussed the inclusion of Sri Lanka’s tourism brand in Australia’s cricket and rugby sports sectors.
Harin Fernando also said that the discussions were successful in making Sri Lanka a destination for Australian sports fans by showcasing Sri Lanka’s beautiful beaches, ancient historical sites, wildlife, adventure sports and cultural experiences. Minister Harin Fernando along with Sri Lanka Tourism Ambassador Sanath Jayasuriya and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) Chairman Chalaka Gajabahu also organized three prominent tourism meetings in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne.
The minister said that Jason Warne, the brother of the late Australian cricketer Shane Warne, also participated in an event held in Melbourne for the promotion of Sri Lankan tourism. (Lankadeepa)
