A preliminary discussion has been held to add electric tricycles and buses in Sri Lanka.
It is stated that this discussion was held with the participation of the Minister of Transport and Highways Dr. Bandula Gunawardena and the representatives of UNDP.
The purpose of this is to provide a solution to the fuel problem by charging the more than ten lakh three-wheelers running in this country to run on electric power, as well as to provide transportation to passengers at an affordable price.
It is planned to allocate an amount of US$1 million for this and in addition to this, attention has also been paid to start an electric bus service in the city of Colombo.
