The civil aviation departments of the two countries have taken steps to start direct passenger air services from Israel to Katunayake for the first time. Accordingly, the Civil Aviation Authority said that the planes belonging to Israel’s “Akia” airline are scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka next October.
A special discussion in this regard was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation, Nimal Siripala de Silva in the Ministry Auditorium. Accordingly, the Civil Aviation Authority said that a memorandum of understanding will be signed soon between the civil aviation departments of the two countries to come to an agreement by resolving the existing problems regarding the start of the new air service.
