The Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries Mahinda Amaraweera said that the financial management success of the Department of Agrarian Development in spending the money allocated by the government for the year 2023 for the related projects is 100%.
In the year 2023, the government had allocated 3000 million rupees for many projects such as renovation of small tank systems, provision of parachute discs to farmers, measurement of paddy land by Geo Goviya application, establishment of youth agri entrepreneurship villages etc.
The Minister of Agriculture said that the Department of Agrarian Development has taken steps to spend the relevant amount on the scheduled projects at the scheduled time without allowing a single rupee to be diverted back to the treasury.
The Minister also mentioned that the Treasury has allocated another 3000 million rupees for the year 2024, taking into consideration the good financial management of that department.
