The Government Medical Officers’ Association says that under the series of symbolic strikes carried out at the provincial level, the strike will be launched today focusing on the Northern Province.
According to this, a 24-hour token strike is being implemented in all government hospitals in the Northern Province today, said Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, its media spokesperson.
However, despite the strike, emergency treatment services will be maintained in Uva province and the strike will not be carried out in maternity hospitals, cancer hospitals and children’s hospitals, he added.
