The issuance of the National Digital Birth Certificate or ‘National Birth Certificate’ under the e-population registration program implemented by the Ministry of Home Affairs started yesterday (5) at the Kalutara District Secretariat. Accordingly, it is stated that this program has been started in Kalutara district under the leadership of the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ashoka Priyantha.
Ashoka Priyantha, Minister of State for Home Affairs, said that the program of providing the National Digital Birth Certificate has been started for other districts.
He further stated that according to the international standard with digital technology, the number given in this national birth certificate will be converted into national identity card numbers and a child will be able to be given an identity number at birth and through that, it will be possible to build a population register.
