The Cabinet has approved a proposal submitted by the Prime Minister as the Minister of Finance to the Cabinet regarding the regularization of the casino industry.
This proposal has been submitted to the Cabinet to formally collect the relevant taxes from the establishments currently engaged in the casino business.
It states that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has submitted this proposal to the Cabinet for matters including betting bearing No. 40 of 1988 and introducing appropriate amendments to the Gambling Tax Act.
