According to International Monetary Fund (IMF) Media Director Gerry Rice, IMF officials are due to visit Sri Lanka next week.He said the International Monetary Fund could not announce a date for a staff-level agreement with Sri Lanka or a date for the loan.He added that the duration of the staff level agreement depends on the strength of the policies and commitments proposed by the authorities.
Sri Lanka’s official foreign reserves have increased to 1920 million US Dollars at the end of May 2022. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) said it has increased from the 1812 million US Dollars reported in April 2022.This is the first such increase in five months in the official foreign reserves, the CBSL reported. Meanwhile, a slight increase has also been reported in Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange in May.The CBSL said that Sri Lanka’s forex has increased from 1602 US Dollars to 1805 US Dollars during this period.
