Today (10) Secretary to the Ministry of Finance M. Siriwardena and EXIM Bank of India have signed an agreement to obtain a dollar loan.
The Government of Sri Lanka has requested a loan from the Government of India to import 65,000 metric tons of urea fertilizer to meet the urgent demand for urea fertilizer for the “Yala season” this year.
In response, the Government of India agreed to provide a $ 55 million loan for the purchase of urea fertilizer from India. Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe, Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera and Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Bagle were present at the signing ceremony.
