The Sri Lanka team qualified for the Super 4 round by winning the match between the Sri Lankan team and the Afghanistan team by 2 runs in the 2023 Asia Cup One Day Cricket Tournament.
The Sri Lankan team won the toss and decided to bat first and managed to score 291 runs with the loss of 8 wickets in their 50 overs.
In batting, Kusal Mendis scored 92 runs, Pathum Nissanka scored 41 runs, Charith Asanka scored 36 runs and Dimuth Karunaratne scored 32 runs for the Sri Lankan team. In bowling, Gulbadin Naib took 4 wickets and Rashid Khan took 2 wickets for the Afghanistan team.
The Afghanistan team who played the reply innings failed to pass the winning target in 37.1 overs and due to this, they failed to qualify for the Super 4 round.
