Sri Lanka Army Military Police athlete, Samitha Dulan, who set a new world record in the Men’s F44 javelin throw event at the Paris Paralympic Games, was warmly welcomed at Katunayake Airport yesterday (10) afternoon. Major General Najiwa Edirisinghe, Director General General Staff and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Military Police, Brigadier Thushara Fernando, Director Sports and Brigadier Shamal Senarath, Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Military Police, were present at the VIP Terminal of Katunayake Airport to greet him on behalf of the Sri Lanka Army.
Upon his arrival, Samitha Dulan received a heartwarming reception from the Army personnel. He then proceeded to Army Headquarters, where he was once again warmly welcomed. The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, congratulated Samitha Dulan for his remarkable achievement in setting a new world record and winning a silver medal. The Army Chief commended Samitha Dulan for his exceptional skill, dedication, and perseverance.
Additionally, Army Chief extended his best wishes for future victories, encouraging him to continue bringing pride to the motherland. In recognition of Samitha Dulan’s outstanding performance, the Army Chief also provided him with financial assistance as a token of appreciation for his contributions to sports and the nation.
