Angelo Mathews has been named the ICC Cricketer of the Month for May.
Asitha Fernando and Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim, who made their debuts in the last tournament in Bangladesh, were also recommended along with Mathews.
Mathews was the top scorer in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, scoring 344 runs, including two centuries.
He lost his double century at 199 in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chittagong and scored a brilliant 145 in the first innings in the second Test at Mirpur.
It is said that this is the first time that a Sri Lankan player has been selected as the best player of the month in the ICC.
