An official of the National Building and Research Organization (NBRO) said that a part of the road has been hit by a landslide again while going to prepare an embankment at a place prone to landslides at the beginning of the Kalawana border on the Kalawana-Ratnapura main road.
On the 29th, the Ratnapura officials of the NBRO observed the reactivation of the landslide near the culvert 28-1 on the Kalawana border.
The Organization has informed the contractor and the Road Development Authority about the remedy for this dangerous situation.
The National Building Research Organization investigated after the residents informed the Ratnapura Disaster Management Center that half of the road at this location had collapsed.
An official from the Ratnapura office of the Road Development Authority said that the construction of the embankment has been started today (31) to prevent the risk of landslides on the road and the risk has been avoided.
After the construction of an embankment to prevent landslides at this place started on the 24th, while the construction work was going on, a part of the road near the bay again suffered a landslide, the residents said.
