In the party leaders’ meeting the day before yesterday (26), a proposal was made for Ali Sabri Rahim, a Puttalam District Member of Parliament, to resign from his position as a Member of Parliament. MP M.A. Sumanthiran presented this proposal. It is stated that it has been confirmed by the chief organizer of the opposition, Lakshman Kiriella, and it is said that the relevant resolution with the signatures of other members of the parliament is to be given to the member of parliament, Ali Sabri Rahim.
Recently, he was arrested by customs officials while bringing gold and telephones illegally to Sri Lanka and then Rs. It is further reported that this proposal has been made based on the fact that he will be released after paying a fine of 7.5 million.
