Government sources say that the presidential election will be held early next year. President Ranil Wickramasinghe has also notified the Election Commission to calculate how much money is needed to hold the presidential election and inform him immediately.
The President, who called the Election Commission Chairman Mr. RML Ratnayake and other officials of the Commission to the Presidential Secretariat office, said that the funds for the presidential election should be included in the upcoming budget and the money should be allocated. The President, who instructed to send a report to the Ministry of Finance regarding the financial allocations for the presidential election, has also informed the Election Commission to discuss the financial allocations with the Ministry of Finance.
