Transport Minister Dr Bandula Gunawardena says that steps will be taken to introduce a minimum speed limit for vehicles travelling on highways.
Accordingly, the minister said the gazette announcement containing these new arrangements is expected to be issued in the next two weeks.
The minister further stated that this gazette announcement would be issued with new regulations necessary for the safety of the lives of highway users under a common law without individual specifics.
