The mahanayaka theros of Asgiri, Malwatu, Amarapura and Ramanya Maha Nikayas have sent a letter to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The dignitaries point out that immediate action should be taken to secure people’s lives through political and economic stability.
The mahanayaka theros have stated in the letter that although they have been informed in writing that positive steps will be taken to resolve the crisis, they have expressed their displeasure over the fact that the real solution to the crisis has been set aside and the usual party political agenda has been activated.
The letter further stated that the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution should be implemented immediately to form a genuine all party government.
