Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Chairman of the Sectoral Monitoring Committee for the Implementation of National Economic and Physical Planning, said that measures will be taken to amend the Inland Revenue Act as soon as possible to improve the state tax mechanism.
Minister Aluthgamage pointed out that some officials of the Inland Revenue Department are not performing their duties properly and this new Inland Revenue Act will enable them to take tough decisions regarding them.
Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage further stated that there are many problems with the state tax collection methods in this country, and therefore the country’s tax policy should be changed immediately.
Mr Aluthgamage, Chairman of the Sectoral Monitoring Committee for the Implementation of National Economic and Physical Plans, expressed these views while attending the news conference held at the Presidential Media Center yesterday (17) under the theme ‘One way to a stable country’.
