The Sri Lanka Construction Association says that 70% of government constructions have been suspended so far.
Accordingly, the association points out that due to the non-payment of the money due by the government, its sector is in a severe crisis.
Susantha Liyanaarachchi, president of the association, says that it has become a dream to carry out construction works in the private sector, and it is impossible to imagine carrying out construction works in the future.
He further mentioned that in view of the current inflationary situation, the amount estimated when a construction is started increases greatly when the construction is completed.
