Yupun Abeykon was able to break the 10-second barrier in the 100-meter event for the first time, making him the first South Asian and Sri Lankan to do so.
Prior to that, Abeykoon qualified for the 100m A finals of the Resisprint International Chaux-de-Fonds 2022 in Switzerland and won the race in 9.96 seconds.
As a result, he beat his own record from last May by clocking a timing of 10.6 seconds today.
