It has been decided to temporarily suspend the use of the group of vaccines that caused the death of a young woman after being given a vaccine at the Peradeniya Hospital.
Accordingly, Director General of Health Services, Dr Asela Gunawardena stated that two patients in the Kandy Hospital who used the same vaccine developed allergies and the necessary treatment has been done for them.
He further stated that it has been decided to temporarily remove the batch given to Kandy Hospital and Peradeniya Hospital until this drug is sent to a quality laboratory for testing for the safety of the patients.
