President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is supposed to have declared that he will respect the decision made at today’s Party Leaders meeting.The Prime Minister’s Office told Ada Derana that the President had notified Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe of his decision. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has conducted preliminary talks with a number of party leaders. According to reports, the Prime Minister stated that the choices made during the party leaders’ meeting will be communicated to the public.
He further stated that necessary action will be done in accordance with the choices made at this meeting. speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has called a special meeting of Party Leaders at 4:00 p.m. today.Earlier today, the Prime Minister summoned an emergency meeting of Party Leaders to examine the present situation in the country and reach a quick settlement.
The extraordinary Party Leaders’ meeting has been called after protesters stormed the Presidential Secretariat and the President’s official house today.The public flocked to the streets in large numbers to express their unhappiness with the President and the administration over the present issue in Sri Lanka.During the anti-government rallies, approximately 40 individuals were injured and sent to the Colombo National Hospital.
