Weligama headquarters police said that six people, including two 10-year-old minors, were arrested on suspicion of beating and killing a young man who was walking on a road in the Galaakanda Kolondanda area of Weligama. Weligama headquarters police said that among those arrested are two brothers from the same family.
A person named H. M. Samuranga has been beaten and killed. A senior police officer said that the attack was carried out after an argument with a woman went too far while he was travelling on the road with a group of friends having a drinking party.
According to the police, a group of people including her two sons came and brutally assaulted the young man on the information given by the woman. The police further said that her two sons are among those arrested.
The six arrested are 16, 21, 23 and 32 years old. (Lankadeepa)
