The Department of Meteorology says that since the turbulent conditions in the lower atmosphere in the southeast of Sri Lanka may further develop, an increase in rainfall is expected in many parts of the island.

The department stated that rain or thundershowers may occur in Eastern, Uva, Northern and North Central provinces and Matale district from time to time.

n the rest of the island, rain or thunder may occur in the evening or at night, and some places in Eastern, Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Central and Southern provinces may experience heavy rains of more than 100 mm.

The Department of Meteorology urges the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
