The Auditor General’s Department has recommended that a formal investigation be conducted regarding the expenditure of nearly seven crore rupees for the purchase of 1,563 vaccines at a cost of Rs 40,869 each by the State Pharmaceutical Regulatory Corporation, while it was estimated that a vaccine would cost Rs 255.
The Auditor General’s Department has made this recommendation based on the facts revealed during an audit of the Statutory Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
According to the audit report, if this vaccine, which is used for sexual stimulation, was purchased at or near the estimated price, it would have cost nearly four lakhs. But the audit report also states that the corporation has spent six crore eighty-seven lakh rupees for this vaccine.
