The Department of Meteorology says that it is expected that the heavy rains in the south-western part of the island will gradually decrease from today.
The department says that there will be occasional rains in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
Also, some places in Sabaragamuwa province, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts may experience heavy rain of more than 50 mm.
In the North, North Central and North Western Provinces, there may be several periods of rain and in the western slopes of the Central Hills and in the North, North Central and North Western Provinces, the wind speed may increase to 50 km/h from time to time.
The Department of Meteorology urges the people to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
