The Department of Meteorology says that a slight increase in rainfall is expected in the southwestern part of the island today and in the next few days.
The department stated that rains may occur from time to time in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, while the North-West province may also experience several periods of rain.
Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts may experience rain or thundershowers at a few places in the evening or at night.
On the western slopes of the central hills and in the northern, north-central and southern provinces and in the district of Trincomalee, there is a possibility of gusts of wind around 50 per km.
The Department of Meteorology requests that people take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
