The Department of Meteorology says that after 2.00 pm today (28th) there may be scattered showers or thunderstorms in many parts of the island. The department stated that some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and Galle and Matara districts may experience heavy rains of more than 75 mm.
There may be rain in the morning in the eastern province and southern coastal areas. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
