The Department of Meteorology says that there may be scattered showers or thunderstorms in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Eastern and Uva provinces and Galle, Matara and Polonnaruwa districts today (22) in the evening or at night. The department stated that it may rain in the morning in the western coastal areas and Galle and Matara districts.
In the northern province and Anuradhapura and Puttalam districts, strong winds of around 40 km per hour may occur from time to time. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
