The Department of Meteorology says that on this day (22nd) there may be several periods of rain in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Similarly, the department mentioned that a few spots of rain may occur in the North and North-West provinces and in Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or at night in a few places.
In the western slopes of the central mountains, and in the North-Central Province, Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts, the winds blowing from time to time can become gusty between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
