The sky is heavy with clouds in the Northern, North Central and Eastern Provinces and the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northern Provinces and Galle and Matara Districts may experience some rains today (18), says the Department of Meteorology. The department also mentioned that a few drops of rain may occur in the North-Central and North-Western provinces, while in Uva and Eastern provinces, there may be rains or thundershowers at a few places during the evening or at night.
In the western slopes of the central mountains, and in the North-Central Province, Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts, the winds blowing from time to time can become gusty between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
