The Department of Meteorology says that there is mainly rainless weather in many parts of the island today (17).
The department stated that foggy conditions may occur in some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Western provinces and Galle, Matara, Batticaloa and Ampara districts in the morning.
Winds are blowing from the northeast and the wind speed is likely to be around 20 to 30 kilometres per hour.
The Meteorological Department further stated that the wind speed may increase to 40 to 50 kilometres per hour from time to time in the offshore areas from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
