The Department of Meteorology says that favourable atmospheric conditions are being created for the occurrence of thunderstorms in the evening in many parts of the island. The department points out that scattered rain or thundershowers may occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North Central, North Western and Uva provinces and Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Mannar districts during the evening or night.
The department also mentioned that there may be some rain in the coastal areas of the Eastern Province. The Department of Meteorology urges that individuals take the required precautions to reduce the risks posed by thunderstorms’ transient high winds and lightning.
