Today (June 14), Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts may experience rain or thunder from time to time, says the Department of Meteorology. The department stated that in the Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts there may be scattered rains or thunderstorms during the evening or at night.
In the western slopes of the central hills, in the northern and north-central provinces, and in the districts of Hambantota and Trincomalee, occasional gusty winds of 40 to 45 kilometres per hour may occur. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
