The Department of Meteorology says that there may be several periods of rain in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. The department stated that rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or at night.
The Department of Meteorology has further informed that the winds blowing from time to time in the western slopes of the central mountains, in the northern and north-central provinces and in the districts of Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee can become strong winds between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
