The Department of Meteorology says that there may be occasional rain in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (12). The department stated that few rains may occur in Hambantota district and rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and Batticaloa and Ampara districts in the evening or at night.
In the western slopes of the central hills, in the northern, north-central and north-western provinces, Trincomalee and Hambantota districts, the winds blowing from time to time may become gusty winds between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour. The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
