The Department of Meteorology says that there is mainly rainless weather in many parts of the island.
The department stated that the winds are blowing from the northeast and the wind speed is about 25-35 kilometres per hour.
From Kankasanturaya to Colombo via Mannar and Puttalam and from Hambantota to Pothuvil, the wind speed may increase to 40 to 50 km/h from time to time in the offshore areas.
The department further stated that the sea areas off the coast from Kankasanturaya to Colombo via Mannar and Puttalam and from Hambantota to Pottuvil can be quite rough from time to time.
