Today (11th) Eastern and Uva Provinces and Mulativu and Vavuniya Districts may experience scattered showers or thunderstorms in the evening or night, says the Department of Meteorology. Heavy rains of more than 50 mm may occur in some places and the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts may experience several periods of rain, the department said.
The rest of the island may experience mainly rainless weather.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
