The Department of Meteorology says that there may be rain or thundershowers from time to time in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (08). The department stated that some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Puttalam, Galle and Matara districts may experience heavy rains of more than 50 mm.
Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts may experience a few spells of rain, while Uva province and Batticaloa and Ampara districts may experience rain or thundershowers at a few places during the evening or at night. The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
