Today (07), the Department of Meteorology says that occasional rain or thundershowers may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and Galle and Matara districts. The department stated that there is a possibility of heavy rains of about 100 mm in some places in Sabaragamuwa province and Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts.
In Uva Province and Ampara and Batticaloa Districts, scattered rain or thundershowers may occur in the evening or at night, while in the Northern and North-Central Provinces and Hambantota, Puttalam and Trincomalee Districts, occasional gusty winds of 40 to 45 kilometres per hour may occur. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
