The Department of Meteorology says that rain or thundershowers may occur from time to time in Western, Sabaragamuwa, South and North-West provinces and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts today (06). The department stated that some areas of Galle, Matara, Kalutara and Ratnapura districts can expect heavy rains of more than 50 mm.
In Uva and Eastern Provinces, Polonnaruwa, Matale and Mullaitivu Districts, scattered rain or thundershowers may occur in the evening or at night.
The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
